Vintage Love::Wooden Crates

Right now I am all about vintage wooden crates. I love the endless uses for them and the amazing and weathered wood their made of. I’ve recently bought a few to use for my show displays,but I’ve found some other great ways to use them. Who knew that these old fruit and milk crates could be reused to make something so lovely?

Do you own any of these crates or have a fabulous way you use them? Please share with the rest of us crazy crate lovers. ;)

How gorgeous is this? I absolutely love this post by Apartment Therapy. I want one of these on my wall.

Along the same lines as the picture above it,I adore this wooden crate bookshelf. Such an easy display to make (if you are lucky to find matching crates in bulk).

Lovely planter boxes. (image source unknown)

The cutest doggie bowls from re-nest.

The coolest recycling bin ever,from Poetic Home. I love that it’s on wheels!

No more unsightly towels and toilet paper. Put them in crates and make them stand out,but in a good way.:) (also from Poetic home)

      Aren’t these fun? I’m all about turning something ordinary into something amazing. And reusing items from the past is high on my list too.:P It’s always fun to find out that other people feel the same way.

  • I absolutely love the book shelf idea! And the towel/toilet paper holder! Sometimes it’s hard for me to see the beauty in the ordinary until I see it used in a certain way. Thanks so much for sharing these cute ideas!!!!

  • Thanks for the great decorating ideas. It is great to see all the different ways you can use old crates. I have had a few of your readers request custom crates so they can create a space similar to the one that you blogged about.

    I LOVE these!!! Any ideas on where to find some? I would love to make some book shelves out of them! Thanks!

      Hi Kim,
      I love them too!!:) There are a couple of options. You can get some brand new ( I saw some at our local K-Mart that were pretty cute). They are about $9 bucks a piece and come in natural/blonde wood color. You can leave them as is,or rough them up a bit and paint them. (There are also several places online that sell them,but they seem kind of pricey)
      I’ve gotten crates and wooden fruit boxes from different flea markets I’ve scoured.:P They have a lot of character,but they sometimes take awhile to find (unless you can get someone with a great stash). You can also check local orchards,they might have a big stash.
      Of course,my favorite are the vintage ones!! Good luck finding some and let me know if you do!
